SWIM LESSONS
June swim lesson registration is now open for children ages 2 - 8! Whether your little one is just getting comfortable in the water or ready to build confidence and technique, our experienced instructors create a fun, safe and encouraging environment for every skill level. Spots fill quickly, so be sure to secure a spot as soon as possible! We highly recommend small group lessons instead of private lessons for all swimmers.
Private lessons may be open to swimmers who do not meet age range requirements for their skill set and / or swimmers who cannot accommodate the once per week group lesson schedule. To inquire about private lessons, please email swimlessons.7hills@gmail.com.
Non-member swim lessons: Private lessons are available for those that are not members of Seven Hills for an additional fee. Please bring a check payable to Seven Hills Swim Club with you due at the time of the first lesson. Per club policy, non-member swim lesson participants have access to the club facilities only for the duration of their 30 or 45 minute lesson. Please note: group lessons are available to non-members for an additional registration fee, but non-member swimmers may not remain at the pool after their assigned lesson time.
Cancellation policy: Once lessons are scheduled, you must call your instructor to cancel at least 24 hours in advance (do not call Seven Hills). Late cancellations or no shows will NOT be rescheduled or refunded. Exception: Lessons canceled due to weather will be rescheduled. Please call ahead if weather is questionable.
JUNE SWIM LESSON OFFERINGS
LEVEL 1: AGES 2 - 5
Level 1 description: Level 1 includes four weekly 20-minute group lessons with up to two swimmers per group. It is intended for swimmers age 2 and older who have limited exposure to water, may feel fearful, are not yet comfortable, and cannot float. The focus is on helping children enjoy being in and around the pool while becoming comfortable with getting their hair and face wet and learning to put their face underwater. Students are introduced to basic pool safety, overcoming fear, identifying safe areas such as finding and holding onto the wall, and moving safely along it. They also begin learning foundational skills like floating, basic flutter kicking, and rolling from their belly to their back.

Level 2 description: Level 2 consists of four weekly 25-minute group lessons with up to three swimmers per group and is designed for swimmers age 3 and older who are already comfortable in the water. These swimmers can float with assistance, move toward the wall using flutter or frog kicks, and swim at least five feet to reach safety, but have not yet learned formal strokes. This level builds on all Level 1 skills while introducing a 10-second back float, basic freestyle arm movements, and beginner backstroke. Swimmers also continue developing safety awareness, including pool and diving board safety.

These swimmers are looking to refine their skills and may already be close to or capable of swimming across the pool unassisted. In addition to reinforcing all Level 2 skills, this level focuses on freestyle side breathing, improving backstroke technique, and introducing breaststroke and butterfly kicking and swimming, while continuing to emphasize pool and diving board safety.

SWIM TESTS
Safety is our number one priority at Seven Hills. Parents should be on the premises with children under age 12 at all times, amd only strong swimmers ages 12 or older can be left at the pool without direct adult supervision. Babysitters ages 16 or older may actively supervise in place of a parent or guardian. A parent or guardian must actively supervise and be within arm's reach of non-swimmers of ALL ages and especially children ages 5 and under at the pool at ALL TIMES. Children ages 5 or younger may only be in the main pool with an adult in arms reach, even when a flotation device is used.
Swim tests
Who needs to take a swim test?
Swimmers between ages 5 and 12 MUST complete a swim test prior to participating in any pool activity.
To pass a swim test, swimmers must be able to:
Swim from one end of the pool to the other (25 meters) without assistance or stopping
Tread water for 1 minute in the deep end of the pool
Jump off a diving board and swim to the side of the pool with no assistance
Jump into the pool and push off the bottom
Why should my child take a swim test?
Passing a swim test shows water proficiency and means that the youngest swimmers may be ready to use the diving boards and swim in the diving well.
Do I still have to watch my child if they have passed a swim test?
All parents should be extra vigilant in watching their children, even those that have passed a swim test.
How do I take a swim test?
Swim tests are administered during rest periods (the first 10 minutes of each hour). If you would like your child to take a swim test, please notify the manager on duty when you arrive at the club. Swim tests will be given in groups.
In a hurry? You may fill out and print the swim test registration form ahead of time by clicking here, and bringing it with you when you arrive at the club. Forms are also available at the clubhouse front desk.
